hey guys.. i've finally dug out time to blog again!! =P
hmmm.. so where shall i start.. oh yes.. lets talk more about the hall i'm in.. its a lil small, just 96 residents... but the ppl here are really friendly and nice.. =) they are very open and you can just walk past a room and start chatting.. =) There is a french guy called Christofe on my right, a hongkong girl called minni sorta across the corriodor and a real friendly girl called Fiona from Scotland down the wing..
i haven't done much the past few days other than experience a snow storm yesterday.. it was so beautiful!!! i mean its like the snow came down quite heavy but the snow was like coming down in large,soft snow flakes.. and the weather actually felt warm.. (or i have real good long johns..mwahaha.. =D)
oh.. yah.. on friday, we actually went to the international centre for a talk for international students.. its like there are like 14 singaporeans in Queens.. amazing right? 10 from ntu, 2 from nus and 2 from smu.. neways, at the meeting, we like had to get to know the ppl on our table, but coz my table consists of sheun,lei and jieling, it would be silly "finding out about each other" so we broke off and i hou(4) zhe(4) lian(3) pi(2) went to ask to join another table.. haha.. lucky never get rejected.. =P neways, there were like african, netherlands,canadian,german.... so many ppl from different countries just at the table.. so cool!!! =) conversation was slow at first, but then we warmed up.. and my! those girls are so well travelled! they've been to so many parts in europe (thanks to the europe train system i think) and america.. i feel like i have seen so little of the world when i hear the places they've been..
neways they prepared dinner for us before the talk... was good.. its this dish called chilli, that's like not the chilli we in sg know.. its like this bean stew.. (we had vegeterian chilli) with like carrots, tomotoes, celery in it..and we had it with nachos.. tasted superb.. wanted to ask the guy for the recipie.. (thank goodness i didn't coz Shili (the other NTU girl) told me tt she saw cans and cans in the kitchen.. so basically its like canned food.. =P tastes good though.. haha.. )
neways, after tt.. i just sat at the same table back with the singaporeans... and when the whole talk ended, we left together.. i thought that maybe coz we were sitting together, we didn't really get to talk to so much of the other overseas students.. which like worried me.. coz its like i wanna know these ppl man! that's why i flew all the way here!! but then i realised tt the other sg girls, who were like not exactly sitting together weren't approached by anyone else either.. its really quite sad.. wonder if its coz we're such a big group we're actually intimidating or its a asian,caucasian thing.. hmm.. hope not.. neway, only 1st meeting.. so we'd see.......
ok.. neways, rest of the days not really worth mentioning.. just slacked most of e time.. haha..
oh man.. yah... and today.. sunday.. ok.. karen and ger (2 sg girls from the same church) went like to ask around the churchs went they went downtown on sat.. neways, they are from a charismatic church, so they're like looking for a younger? service..and they told me that the salvation army church ppl told them there's a united church that has quite vibrant youth service.. neway,since they checked it out.. i joined them to go to the Queen's St United Church today.. and its like totally not like what they expected.. 730 church service is nothing compared to that church when it comes to being traditional.. the church is really quite beautiful..old,grand looking..a real organ,with like many pipes,is used for praise and all hymns are played... its just all new and like fresh to me.. and like a diff style..=) but the sermon was like a little messy.. which got me quite lost.. so i am considering other churchs.. (one of the girls received quite a culture shock i think coz of the whole traditional thing.. and i think tt she was quite uncomfortable during service..well..we'd just scout around for other churchs lah..) oh and the great thing is, Carla, who is one of the dons, (dons are the 2 senior students in hall who actually are like the big bro and sis and they sorta take care of stuff in the hall, help plan social gatherings.. stuff like tt..).. neways.. Carla is a theologian major.. heh.. and she told us about a few churchs nearby.. and her own.. so we can check em out.. oh..and she took the subject "the hebrew bible" before..(its on the old test and i'm like super interested!!!) and she said that its really a swell and interesting course..neway, gonna crash the lect tmr and decide if i want it as a ge.. =P
anyways, after church, went to tim hortons.. this canadian cafe.. very famous among the locals for lunch..had beef chilli this time! (i'm so crazy about them) and like the full meal comes will the 6-inch sorta like a french loaf, a big bowl of chilli, a drink(i had mocha.. which was way too sweet.. couldn't taste the coffee!!! ahhhh.. i miss hup cheong coffee and bkt timah mkt!) and a donut... gosh i was so full after all that.. mwahahha.. my pig-out sunday..
neways, after that karen and ger wanted to catch meet the fockers.. which i wanted to watch... and qinlei and jieling too.. so i went back to hall to ask the lei and jieling... and just as i was going back to my room, haryati, fiona, christofe and this guy called alex (he's from scotland too..) wanted to go sledging.. so i called the girls and we joined them!!!!! =) so so so much fun! we had to go downtown first to get the plastic sheet as our "magic carpet" then went to this slope in campus to go down!!! so much fun!! we basically just sit, or lie, or crouch.. heh.. on the magic carpet and like go down the slope on it.. haha.. tried so many ways to go down.. (like during youth camp in snow city...hahaha.. ) we went forward, backward, lay down, sit up, chained hands,have 2 ppl share one carpet, i stacked in sheun.. haha..really swell.. and my 1st "outing" with some non-singaporeans... a good start.. =) haha..
neways, after dinner watched a dvd we rented... along came polly.. haha.. real funny.. karen invited suzanne, this dutch girl to watch with us... and after that.. spent so much time talking to her.. and found out so much about the dutch ppl.. their traditions and all that..they don't celebrate christmas, but like st's nick's day.. which is on the 5th of dec.. and its like suzanne comes from the town where all the tulips and hyceanias(i think that's how its spelt) is grown.. like they have the biggest flower field in the whole world!!! insane right? i can't imagine how beautiful it actually is... oh man.. really gotta visit one day...
neways, so today was a really good day in all.. =) Thank the Lord.. =)
sch's starting tmr.. *yikes* hope i can cope coz apparently,Queen's is like one of the best uni's in Canada and by right, the standard's pretty high.. well.. with God, everything is possible!!! amen!
time to rest for class tmr.. hope i'd be able to update soon enough again., so that my blog won't be so ridiculously long.. =P
