I've had a great time these couple of days! (:
Went to Cambodiana (this really fantastic Thai-Cambodian eatery) for lunch yesterday...
Green Curry and stir-fried chicken... with soft fragrant rice... *yum*
after that, was a trip to White Mountain ice-cream place...
good ice-cream, great waffle cone.. and good company! (:
on the way to ice-cream, met up with Helena, this Norwegian exchange student...
don't really know her well, but if we see each other, we'd like chat a lil..
anyway, she's soooo spontaneous.. she's really interested in Chinese culture and she just suggested we hang out together.. just that night! i was a lil taken aback.. (i'm not v good with spontaneous un-planned stuff.. =P) but then.. haha.. why not? so we suggested that she came over to our place where we would make her chinese food and we can hang out and watch a movie! (:
neways, it was a really good, spontaneous thing.. we had 2 pots of bah kut teh, yummy Rolo ice-cream(contributed by Helena).. heh.. she enjoyed the bah kut teh.. (had 2 bowls. wahahaha.. =D)
anyway, she was really shocked that we English is our first lang. (she saw my laptop and was wondering why all the keys were in alphabets.. she was expecting a really unique key board..) and at how small we are.. that we don't even have a city area really.. all of Singapore (cept for Lim Chu Kang and like NTU? hahaha.. ) is just city.. i hope she gets a chance to come one day.. would really love to show her around...
i learnt new stuff too... Norwegians pay for their own tertiary education.. Not their parents...
and she was really shocked to learn that Americans, Canadians and Singaporean parents pay for their children's educations... (of course its much cheaper in Norway.. think coz of govt subsidy?) she used to think that we must be spoilt by our parents to have to pay for our own educations..
neways, the movie last night was "the pacifier" (wanted to watch Hotel Rwanda but didn't work too well)... anyways, it ain't good.. corny.. predictable..
that was yesterday and today we went on a road trip!!!
Adeline, Qinlei, Shili, Jieling, Xuan, Sylvia, Kaileng, Melissa and Karen..
we rented a mini van and drove to the area around Kingston today.. had so much fun! from singing songs in the van (realising that Shania Twain is prob Canada's most famous singer coz we hear her songs like one in every 10 played by the radio station..) to taking silly photos along the side of the highway.. (:
we drove along the St. Lawrence river today to look at the famous 1000 Islands that makes Kingston the tourist hotspot in the summer....... we managed to find the great spot... it was so beautiful.. the sky was blue and cloudless.. it was sunny and warm.. the water glistened in the sunlight... and the islands.. most of them are so small, only a house can stand on them.. but they just dot the whole St. Lawrence river... just gorgeous....
after that, we went to Frontenac Provincial park.. a nature conservation park..
and took a 3 hr hike.. which explains my tired thighs.. =P
passed by 2 beaver ponds and 3 lakes... the lakes were still semi-frozen.. but still, they were beautiful.. i finally got to see the part of the Kingston area that i've never seen before..and go for a hike... what we've seen been mostly cities.. this is so different.. like discovering a different part of Canada....
really love nature so much... makes me feel so close to God.. to lavish in His beautiful creation..
best part about today is the company.. really love this group of girls....
hope we still can maintain our friendship when we go back to sg..
neways, we got lost when we left the park! wanted to go to a small town that's supposed to be really pretty, but took one big round and ended back at Frontenac Park... (we spent an hour on rocky, rough road with potholes.. felt a lil car sick. =/)
but thank God for Qinlei.. just have to go mad in the car and entertain us.. haha.. =D
finally made our way there before sunset.. really pretty indeed.. (: had dinner there too..
the sky was dark by the time we left.. and the sky was just lit up with so many stars.. i swear Orion's Belt was there.. 3 stars in a row....
much thanks must go to our driver today... Adel! the greatly skilled driver.... duo lau ni le! (:
and to Jieling, our navigator.. (tho we got lost, you're still the best we have! (: so i'm not complaining!)
to Qinlei.. for your never-ending entertainment..
to whoever's cameras my photos are in.. (thanks for helping this poor camera-less lass)
and of course.. to Ms Shania Twain..
hahaha.. for countless songs...
